Rainy Day Part II

Fiona had the same idea!! When I picked her up from kindergarten she immediately asked if she could play outside in the rain. We came home and she got all of her gear on and then headed outside. It is pouring and has been all day. I stayed in the garage and played photographer-I am freezing and had no desire to get wet-I know
what a party pooper. I've just made some decaf
coffee for our next outing to pick up the older 3 kids from school. It will be a nice afternoon to stay in and get cozy!! Disney channel here we come!!

Rainy Morning

Emmy and I were adventurous this morning. We visited Aunt Christine at the bread store and then once we were home, Emmy wanted to play in the rain. She got on all of her gear and was very happy splashing about.

Dinner Time

I am trying to navigate dinner time with a positive attitude. Nothing brings me to my knees quicker than hearing, "Eeew" or "ick" after I have prepared a decent meal. My New Year's resolution was to make at least one new meal per week from this great cook book I got as a gift-Cheap, Fast, Good-I highly recommend it! I met the goal for about 3 months and after much resistance from little people I fell back into the dinner rut. Right now I am serving the following rotation that will last about 2 weeks: meatloaf, chicken pesto, sphagetti w/meatballs, pizza, nuggets, turkey, grilled cheese, tortellini, and breakfast night. Of course Derek and I are sick of eating the same things over and over but to keep peace we do.
Since fall is fast approaching, I am thinking of getting out my cookbook again to try some new things. I am open to any suggestions-please remember that I do NOT have children who will eat fish, mixed veggies, or any nontraditional food item.
And to think that I made homemade baby food for Peris when she was little...now it is processed food city!!!

Happy Wednesday

Things that I am thankful for:

  • Hearing my kid's laughter

Labor Day Fun

Today marks the official end of summer and I'm not sure if I am ready for it to be over. I am such a summer Mom!! I love the relaxed pace, the hot days, the pool, long evenings, grilling out, and lightening bugs. We went to the pool last night for our last hurrah-the kids had a great time. Fiona went down the "fast" waterslide alone!!
This afternoon we celebrated the holiday with a cookout at Dad's. It was fun; the kids swam in the blow up pool, ran around the property, and took slow rides on the gator. I had an appetite and totally enjoyed a brat, bean salad, chex mix, and a massive slice of carrot cake-plus a regular Dr. Pepper.
As the evening started, there was a beautiful breeze and the setting sun was a brilliant hot pink. We watched it go down on our drive home-absolutely remarkable.
Tomorrow it is back to the grind.
