Babystep-taco seasoning

My ingredients
Mix it all together

Voila

*******************************************************************

In the very near future (June, 1st to be exact), our family is going to take part in a food revolution-some are doing this voluntarily while others aren't really very happy about this venture. Our food revolution is going to be based on guidelines set up on the blog:
100daysofrealfood.com
and I would HIGHLY recommend you check it out if you have any interest in eating/living better.

To babystep my way towards cutting out packaged foods, I decided to use a recipe that I found on Pinterest (which was taken, I believe, from an original Rachel Ray find) which was very easy!! As you can see above the ingredients are simply chili pepper, cumin, garlic powder, and onion powder. The recipe directs that you take equal parts of each and mix them together (photo two). I took 1/3 cup of each spice and mixed them together in a bowl. After the mixture looked...well, mixed....I then put it in a mason jar and gave the jar a few good shakes.

I did do a little dry taste test and I am thinking that the chili pepper may be a bit too much-my kids do NOT like anything spicy. If it does end up being too much, no worries-I will just add a bit more of the other stuff to balance it all out.

My first babystep towards no packaged food with more than 5 ingredients listed is a wild success!!! HOORAY!!!!!

Update (4/27/12)
I actually used this seasoning for Taco Tuesday last week and I am happy to report that NO ONE even noticed that I used this mix!!!  It was a bit spicier so I think next time I will adjust the ingrediants a bit.  But the bottom line is that it worked!!  HOORAY!!!!
